Hi everyone! Do you like to read? I LOVE reading, so I've been looking forward to picking out new books to read this summer. So far I think I'm going to read The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones .
Speaking of books, have you thought about the future of books? Now there are electronic "e-readers" and you can also read books on your phone or iPod/iPad, so some people think that paper books will eventually disappear.
As for me, I prefer paper books. I like the smell and feel of paper books, and I also like seeing my bookmark travel through the book. I have read some "e-books" on my iPod, but it's just not as fun for me. Also, I like going into a book store and doing the "first page test." That "test" is when I open a random book and read the first page. If I want to keep reading, the book has passed the test (and I consider buying it).
One book that passed the "first page test" for me was "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore. Moore is now one of my favorite authors thanks to doing that first page test! I recommend his books to people who like comedy. He's written about many things such as death gods and even art! Please check him out. (^o^)/
There are some good points about e-readers and e-books. First, you can have a lot of books in one small device--e-readers save space. Second, you can change the font size and screen light on the e-reader to make it easier to read (while you can't change the font size in books, and it's hard to read books in places with bad light). Third, e-readers are lightweight and easier to carry than some books.
What do you think about the paper book vs. e-book debate? Will you continue to buy books, or do you want an e-reader?
I hope you're having a great summer so far! Best wishes and happy reading!
